The whole of Cumbria. Dave is based in Penrith, so the Eden Valley is home ground, but reviews have come in from Carlisle, Appleby-in-Westmorland, Windermere and Tebay - if you are in the county, he will travel to you.
Do you offer emergency callouts?

Emergencies, evenings and weekends: call and Dave will tell you straight away if he can get to you. A burst pipe or a leak coming through a ceiling should always start with a phone call, not the contact form.
Are quotes really free?

Yes - always, with no obligation. You get a straight answer on cost and timing before any work starts: a fixed price where the job is predictable, and an honest estimate where it is not.

Can you take on small jobs, or only big projects?

Small jobs are welcome - they are most of the list. A good tip is to keep a list on the fridge and call when it has two or three things on it, which makes the visit better value for you.
How quickly can you come out?

It depends on the job and the diary. Small jobs around Penrith can often be fitted in quickly; bigger jobs are planned visits and booked ahead. For anything urgent, call - you will get an honest answer about timing straight away.
Do you supply materials, or can I buy my own?

Either works. Many customers choose and buy their own suites, tiles and paint, and Dave fits whatever you pick. He can also source trade materials and put them on the quote, and will tell you honestly which route is better value for your job.
Will you leave the place tidy?

Yes - dust sheets down, rubbish taken away, and the house left as it was found. It is the thing customers mention most often in their reviews, right after the quality of the work.
Do you guarantee your work?

Dave stands behind everything he does. If something is not right, call him and he will come back and sort it - repeat customers make up a big share of the work, and that only happens when problems get fixed.
How do I pay?

Payment on completion, agreed with the quote before any work starts - no deposits are asked for on ordinary jobs.
What is hot lime pointing, and does my house need it?

If your house is stone-built and older than about a century, its walls were built with breathable lime mortar. Repointing in modern cement traps moisture and damages the stone. Hot lime pointing replaces failed or cement mortar with traditional hot-mixed lime, letting the wall breathe again. Send Dave a photo of your pointing on WhatsApp and he will tell you what you are looking at.
Do you still do garden maintenance?

No - garden maintenance and grass-cutting are no longer offered. Outdoor carpentry is still very much on the list: fencing, decking, gates, and bespoke sheds and playhouses.
