Kitchen fitting

Units set level on floors that fall away, worktops scribed to walls that lean, and the tiling, plumbing and making good handled as part of the same job rather than three separate visits from three separate firms.

A kitchen is really four trades pretending to be one - joinery, plumbing, tiling and decorating - which is exactly why it suits a tradesman who does all four. Dave strips out the old kitchen, sets the carcasses true, cuts and joins the worktops, plumbs the sink and appliances in, tiles the splashback and makes good afterwards. Supply your own units from wherever you like, or ask him what he would use.

Older Cumbrian houses are where this earns its keep. A run of units is only as good as the packing under it, and a solid timber worktop scribed properly to an uneven wall is the difference between a kitchen that looks fitted and one that looks delivered.

Common questions

Can you fit a kitchen I have bought myself?

Yes, and most people do. Order it from wherever you prefer and Dave will fit it. Send the plan over on WhatsApp first and he will tell you if anything on it is going to cause trouble in your room.

How long is the kitchen out of action?

It depends on the size of the room and how much is being moved, so ask for a straight answer before you book. What Dave will not do is start a strip-out he cannot finish - the sink and the cooker go back on as early as the job allows.

Do you do the gas and electrics too?

Plumbing, waste and the fitting itself are Dave’s own work. Gas connection and any new electrical circuits go to a registered engineer - he will tell you plainly what needs one and works alongside them.
