Plastering

Smooth walls and ceilings - from a patch repair after a leak to a whole room skimmed, plasterboarded or plastered from bare.

Good plastering is preparation and timing more than anything: raking out what is loose, the right backing, and a finish flat enough that decorating is a pleasure instead of a fight. Dave plasters rooms he then often decorates too, so the finish has to be right.

Common questions

Can you just patch a damaged area?

Yes - patches after leaks, removed fireplaces or rewiring are routine, blended so you cannot see where old meets new.

How soon can I paint fresh plaster?

Fresh plaster needs to dry out properly first - usually around a week depending on the room - then a watered-down mist coat before the final colour. Dave will tell you when it is ready.
